    • normotensive = dobutamine / isoprenaline

    • Transcutaneous

    • Existing PPM

External pacing / transcutaneous pacing

  • place external pads on
  • start at 10 mA, and increase current by 10 mA until electrical capture
    • usually around 40 mA
    • seen on screen as a pacing spike followed by QRS
  • add ~10 mA above threshold for safety margin = 50 mA
  • uncomfortable
    • patients usually cannot tolerate > 50 mA without sedation
  • target rate 60-80 bpm = default 70 bpm
